Kochi University of Technology and University of Hradec Krolove (UHK) sign a Cooperation Agreement

The School of Environmental Science and Engineering of Kochi University of Technology and University of Hradec Kralove of Czech Republic signed an Academic Cooperation and Student Exchange Agreement on Nov. 4th at Kami-Campus. KUT is the first Japanese University to sign an agreement with UHK.

UHK, the renowned National University in Czech Republic, was established in 1959. It has 9,000 students and consist of five faculties, such as Science, Education, Philosophy, Informatics and Management, and Social Work.

Since 2005, KUT received a Special Scholarship Student from UHK and total of 6Japanese students visited UHK for research. This paved the way for signing the Cooperation Agreement.

Dr. Karel Kouba, Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Dr. Jan Kriz, Vise-Rector for Strategy and Development visited Kochi on Nov. 4th and after discussing the details of the Agreement, Prof. Toshihiko Maeda of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering and Vice Rector Dr. Kouba officially signed the document in a welcoming atmosphere.

Prof. Maeda stated that he was "sure the Agreement is a big step toward cooperative research in the field of material science and theoretical physics" and Dr. Kouba responded that "Czech students have become more and more interested in studying in Asia, especially Japan. This is the beginning of new and fruitful cooperation between our universities".
