International exchange event between school children and KUT overseas students was held

On January 21st, about 30 students of Omiya primary school in Kami city visited Kochi University of Technology (KUT) and communicated with KUT overseas students at International House.

School children experienced intercultural communication through introduction of some Kahoku town special products in English, self-introduction, question & answer and English play time.
Talks about language and culture by overseas students made children surprise and they asked some questions actively. Lastly, participants enjoyed miso cookies made by children. Overseas students listened to the children's explanation about jinger, yuzu (citron), green laver, and sesame.

This event was held as a part of learning program, "Let's go to KUT" which is worked cooperatively by KUT Regional Education Support Center and Kami city Board of Education. Children took this opportunity as a learning practice of food culture and English usually taught at school.
