The minister of Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia visited Kochi University of Technology

On June 16th, Roger Shigeru Mori, Minister of Embassy of the Federated States of Micronesia in Japan, paid a courtesy call on Kochi University of Technology (KUT) and shared ideas with President Masahiko Isobe and Prof. Akimitsu Hatta, Chair of International Relations Center, over the possibility of the future interaction.
This is the second formal visit to KUT from the delegation of Micronesia following the visit by Ambassador John Fritz in January, 2014. The grandfather of Minister Roger Shigeru Mori is Mr. Koben Mori who was a businessman born in Kochi and went over to Micronesia in 1892. He settled down there and achieved success. For this reason, Mr. Shigeru Mori who assumed as Minister in March chose Kochi to visit first.
Minister Roger Shigeru Mori and KUT members were of the common view that both Japan and Micronesia use ocean resources and prepare for disaster prevention and disaster control measures from the serious environmental issues caused by global warming. After that, they exchanged positive opinions on interaction with students and researchers.
