On January 23rd, a winner of Novel Prize in Physics, Prof. Shuji Nakamura, University of California, Santa Barbara, gave a special lecture “Invention of high efficiency blue LEDs and solid light source in the future” in Kami campus.

KUT auditorium was packed with 600 audiences and another lecture room was also full.

Prof. Nakamura invented the world’s first high brightness blue LEDs. It was developed and converted into a commercial reality.
In this lecture, he said “The reason why Japan cannot sell products in the world despite of its amazing manufacturing technologies is that Japanese may not have enough skills in English and presentation. I hope many students go abroad to cultivate survival skill and international competitiveness as well as learn diversified viewpoints by looking at Japan from the world.”
