On April 28th, 2013, new Secial Scholarship Program students who were enrolled this spring and Japanese students who are interested in international cultural exchange joined a tour to Kokubunji temple, Kochi city culture plaza Cul-Port for the exhibition of the flower arrangement, and Katsurahama beach.

On April 25th, seven foreign students from China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Ghana who were newly enrolled in the Special Scholarship Program doctoral course of Kochi University of Technology this spring paid a courtesy visit to the Mayer of Kami-city, Mr. Makio KADOWAKI for the first time at Kami-city office.

On April 3rd, the entrance ceremony was held at the auditorium. 495 new undergraduate students were enrolled in the School of System Engineering, the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, the School of Information, and the School of Management. 11 students were newly transferred to the 3rd year. 115 master course students and 10 doctoral course students were enrolled in the graduate school. In total, 631 new students made a fresh start in KUT in this spring.

Chinese new year party was held in Kuzume dormitory on February 10th (Sun). The party was organized by Chinese foreign students’ association, and all of the Chinese students prepared the dumplings and local dishes from their home town in China.

Japanese Cabinet Office Decoration Bureau announced the recipients of decoration for the year 2012 on November 3rd. The president of Kochi University of Technology, Taketo Sakuma received the Medal with Blue Ribon, and Professor Shinsuke Nakata of the Research Organization for Regional Alliances also received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette

The ceremony for commemoration of school foundation was held at KUT auditorium on November 7th, Wednesday. In the ceremony, nearly 100 students received commendation of awards for their outstanding academic results, sports results, and great contribution to the society. In this year, 4 professors were newly appointed to emeritus professor.

The exhibition of the flower arrangement was held in Kochi city culture plaza Cul-Port on October 27th (Fri). KUT foreign students and Japanese students who are interested in international exchange were invited to this event by Kochi Prefecture Kado Kiyowakai Inc.

The current KUT president, Taketo SAKUMA was appointed as the president-elect
The current KUT president, Taketo SAKUMA was officially appointed as the president-elect at the presidential election committee chaired by Mr. Masao Nishiyama since his current tenure will be terminated in March, 2013. His second term will be from April 1st 2013 to March 31st, 2015.

The 8th International Symposium for Social Management Systems (SSMS2012)
Society for Social Management Systems which was founded by Kochi University of Technology in 2005 had its 8th international symposium in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in conjunction with Taiwan Morakot Post-Disaster Reconstruction Council, Executive Yuan, Taiwan Construction Research Institute (TCRI) and National Taiwan University at Kaohsiung Ambassador Hotel from May 2nd to May 4th, 2012.
