May event: Ikebana Spring Exhibition, a Japanese cultural experience for international students

A Japanese culture tour was held on Sunday, May 14 for 25 students, including international students who enrolled at KUT this April and Japanese students interested in international exchange.

In the morning, the students visited Kochi City Culture Plaza CUL-PORT to see the Ikebana Spring Exhibition and have a hands-on experience of ikebana. In the afternoon, they visited Chikurinji temple and Katsurahama beach to get a sense of the history of Tosa(old name of Kochi) and Japanese traditional culture.

At the Ikebana Spring Exhibition, held by the Kochi Prefecture Flower Arrangement Association, the students first viewed a collection of flower arrangements, and then 20 teachers from 20 ikebana schools taught them how to create ikebana. Some students received compliments such as "arranged the flowers precisely" or "has good sense."
