Political Economics Laboratory
We apply economics theory and tools to the analysis of political institutions. In particular, we focus on voting rules (e.g., in elections and referendums), examining how people behave under each rule, and what types of rules work well. Our approach is not simply to observe and describe real elections as they are, but to analyze them mathematically by describing them as simplified models. We also conduct laboratory experiments in which participants are asked to make voting decisions in the context of various types of voting rules. |
