Learning Motivation Laboratory
The main purpose of my research is to find answers to the question, “How can we motivate students to learn?” I adopt two perspectives in addressing this question: the aspiration (life goals) perspective and the social-emotional skill perspective. The aspiration (life goals) perspective holds that healthy life goals can lead to increased student motivation to learn (e.g., intrinsic motivation, autonomous motivation, and mastery goals). The social-emotional skill perspective holds that non-cognitive skills (e.g., empathy, perseverance, and optimism) may promote the above processes and increase the likelihood of students’ success in life beyond school. This laboratory is a part of the Research Unit of Psychology, Education, and Technology (RUPET), which was established at KUT to investigate and solve regional educational problems. |
