Areas of specialization
Laboratory/research office Ultrasonics Utilization Laboratory for Medicine/ Engineering
Ultrasonic techniques are widely used, not only for the detection of flaws in hard materials such as steel, but also for medical examination of soft objects such as human internal organs. In our laboratory, we have developed various technologies for implementation in fuel efficient vehicles with low-friction lubrication surfaces, by applying ultrasound techniques to the diagnosis of lubrication conditions in machinery. In addition, we are aiming to contribute to medical test technology reliability and safety through the development of techniques for evaluating the hardness of biotissue and caries portion (tooth decay), and the surface feel of materials.
