KUT students take on the challenge of interpreting for the Czech Republic national canoe team

On November 2, Kochi Prefecture organized a party in Kochi City to welcome the Czech Republic national canoe team. Eight KUT students participated, acting as volunteer interpreters.

The Czech Republic national canoe team had a one-month training camp in November-December in Susaki City in Kochi Prefecture, aiming for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020. Sixteen players and coaches, including Rio de Janeiro Olympic medalists, attended the welcome party along with members of the Kochi Canoe Association and officials of Susaki City and Kochi Prefecture, who have been promoting this kind of training camp for some time.

One of the volunteer interpreters was Ms. Azumi Komamizu (third year undergraduate student in the School of Economics and Management), who was eager to apply her experience of studying in the Czech Republic. She said, "I was delighted to be able to have contact with Czech people for the first time in a long time. I would like to help promote exchanges between Kochi and the Czech Republic in the future."
