Professor Nishiwaki received Lecture Award at international conference of chemistry

At the International Congress on Pure & Applied Chemistry (ICPAC) 2018 held in Langkawi, Malaysia from October 30 to November 2, the Lecture Award went to KUT Professor Nagatoshi Nishiwaki of the Laboratory of Organic Synthesis in KUT's School of Environmental Science and Engineering.

ICPAC is an international scientific conference in the field of applied chemistry, bringing together more than 300 researchers from Asian countries including Japan for discussion under the theme, Chemistry for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Beyond, with the aim of raising the level of research.

Prof. Nishiwaki gave an invited lecture under the theme, Synthetic Methods Using a Novel Concept "Pseudo-Intramolecular Process. His lecture received the Lecture Award as a result of peer evaluation by the participants. The Lecture Award is given to a lecture that is recognized as significantly contributing to fundamental developments in academia or to society.

In his lecture, Prof. Nishiwaki introduced a highly efficient reaction using salt formation which realizes two reactants are brought closed to each other. In the interest of deepening researcher exchange, Prof. Nishiwaki's lecture was followed by discussion among the participants about the usefulness and applications of the method he presented.
