KUT student participates in Le Man Esports Series Super Final

Mr. Koei Matsusaka (4th year School of Systems Engineering student) participated in the Le Man Esports Series Super Final held in France June 13-15, 2019.

This event, an e-sport event using the official game Forza Motorsport 7, held at a special venue installed in the circuit, runs concurrently with the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, one of the world's three largest races.
Only 36 finalists, from among some 20,000 qualifiers worldwide, can compete in the event. Teams consisting of three finalists fought it out in a tough endurance race.

Mr. Matsusaka was one of the three Japanese participants in this race. He teamed up with an American and a British to enter the 24-hour endurance race, taking turns driving in the preliminaries and the final. They placed 10th overall.

Mr. Matsusaka, recalling the race, said, "It was very special time--I felt the heat of the Circuit de la Sarthe so close and drove by a huge number of spectators and cameras. Although I was a bit nervou since it was my first time to participate in an international competition, I succeeded in deep cooperation with my teammates. It was a very valuable international experience--I realized that there is no language barrier if I have the will to communicate, if we can find our shared objective, and if we can use a translation website effectively."
