Kochi delegation to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Kochi's friendship alliance with Anhui
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the friendship alliance between Kochi Prefecture and Anhui Province in China, a delegation from Kochi universities, private friendship groups, local assemblies and the Kochi Prefecture administration visited Anhui Province November 20-23, 2019, to further expand exchange between the two regions.
On November 21, as a part of the commemoration, a Kochi delegate gave a presentation at partner university Anhui University (Hefei City, Anhui Province) to promote exchange involving the students of three universities in Kochi Prefecture and students from Anhui University's Japanese language department.
Following an introduction to Chinese culture by Anhui University students, Mr. Kohei Irie (3rd year student in KUT's School of Systems Engineering) gave a presentation on industry and food culture in Kochi Prefecture, along with students from other Kochi universities. Mr. Irie served as a moderator for the presentation, and gave an overview of the prefecture's three universities and related international exchange efforts.
After the presentation, gifts of clappers (naruko) were given by Kochi Prefecture to the Japanese language students at Anhui University. With the support of the students from Kochi, the Anhui students performed the traditional Yosakoi naruko dance. Although the students at Anhui University were initially puzzled by the naruko, they gradually began to dance radiantly, and interactions among the students deepened in a cheerful atmosphere.
