Requests to other university libraries to photocopy documents or borrow materials (for university affiliated users only)

KUT students and faculty can order materials which are not in the KUT library collection from other university libraries. However, copying and shipping costs must be paid by the user.

Requests to borrow books from public libraries in Kochi Prefecture
(for both public users and university affiliated users)

Materials which are not in the KUT library collection can be ordered from public libraries in Kochi Prefecture (e.g. Kochi Prefectural Library or Kochi City Library). Since delivery is via Kochi Prefecture distribution service, shipping is free of charge. Please fill in an application form and submit it at the 1st floor service counter.

Requesting purchase of books by the library (for university affiliated users only)

KUT Library accepts users’ requests for purchase of materials by the library. When it receives a request, the library examines the request and if the library judges that the requested material is appropriate for purchase by the library, the purchase will be made. In order to meet the requests of as many users as possible, the maximum number of requests per person per year is 30 academic books and 10 non-academic books. Please understand that in some cases we may not be able to grant your request.
Applying through “My Library”

Application for a letter of introduction (for internal users only)

KUT students and faculty may visit in person libraries managed by other organizations to view materials which KUT does not own. Usually such libraries are not open to the public, so a letter of introduction issued by KUT Library is required.


The process, from application for a letter of introduction to receipt of requested materials, is as follows:

  • If you cannot find materials that you wish to read, search CiNii Books for a library which has the materials.
  • If you do not know how to search, please ask a library staff member.
  • Write your required visit date, the title(s) of the materials and the name of the university library on the form and submit it at the KUT Library service counter.
    Note: It takes a week to receive a letter of introduction, so please apply well in advance.

  • KUT library staff will confirm that the material is available.
  • KUT library staff will issue a letter of introduction.
  • You receive the letter of introduction.
  • You visit the library in question and present your letter of introduction.

Application for exhibition (for university affiliated users only)

The library entrance hall holds exhibitions of works by KUT students (any category: e.g., research, research outcomes, products of extracurricular activities, photography). This is a chance to show your creations or skills to a broad audience. If you wish to exhibit your work, please fill in an application form and submit it at the 1st floor service counter at least one month prior to the date when you wish to exhibit.

Application to use library equipment (for university affiliated users only)

KUT library lends display panels for exhibitions in the library. In principle the panels are only for use inside the library, but some exceptions may be made, depending on the purpose, such as academic meetings or the school festival. If you wish to use the panels, please consult with the library staff. Note: it is not permissible to use the panels outdoors or off-campus. In some cases requests may be refused.

For public users

Application for a usage permit (for public users)

The general public can freely read books and materials belonging to KUT library during opening hours, but to borrow them it is necessary to apply for a usage permit. Please complete an application, providing information including your address, name and telephone number, and submit it at the 1st floor service counter along a piece of ID (e.g. your driver’s license, health insurance card or student ID). This usage permit can also be used in the libraries of University of Kochi.

Requests to borrow books from public libraries in Kochi Prefecture
(for both public users and university affiliated users)

Materials which KUT library does not own can be requested from public libraries in Kochi Prefecture (e.g. Kochi Prefectural Library or Kochi City Library).
