Fluids Engineering Laboratory
Fluid mechanics is a discipline to study the characteristics and dynamics of fluids. Typical examples of fluids are water and air, whereas we are concerned mainly with complex fluids which contain larger size of high-order structures compared with their constituent molecules; for examples, polymer melts and solutions, suspensions, surfactant solutions, liquid crystals, biological fluids, et al. Complex fluids react to an external field or change their structures depending on the surrounding environment. We use the characteristics of complex fluids to develop extremely small size of actuators and sensors. |
