国費外国人留学生奨学金とは（What is the MEXT Scholarship ?）

国費外国人留学生奨学金には、大学推薦と大使館推薦があります。
Under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program, there are two application categories as follows:

①　大学推薦（University Recommendation）の対象：

受給金額（Scholarship Amount）

博士課程（Doctoral Course) 145,000yen/month
修士課程（Master Course） 144,000yen/month
非正規　（Non-Degree Student）143,000yen/month
入学金、授業料及び入学検定料（正規生として進学しない場合又は不合格となった場合の入学の入学検定料は留学生の自己負担）、渡日旅費、帰国旅費（原則として研究を終了し、奨学金支給期間終了月内に帰国する場合のみ）
Entrance examination fee, admission fee, and tuition (in cases where the student does not advance to a regular degree program or is not admitted, the entrance examination fee shall be borne by the student), round-trip travel expenses to and from Japan (return travel expenses will, in principle, be provided only if the student completes the research program and returns to his/her home country within the month in which the scholarship period ends).

大使館推薦（Embassy Recommendation）

日本政府文部科学省が日本の大学において正規生又は非正規生として研究を行うことを希望する外国人留学生（研究留学生）を対象に、毎年４月頃、翌年度の４月または秋入学の奨学金受給者を募集しています。2026年度入学を対象とした文部科学省の大使館推薦選考スケジュールに合わせた本学の学内手続きをは以下のとおりです。
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan annually invites applications, around April, from international students (Research Students) who wish to conduct research at Japanese universities as either regular or non-regular students. The scholarships are for enrollment in April or the fall semester of the following academic year. The internal procedures at KUT in accordance with MEXT's Embassy Recommendation selection schedule for enrollment in 2026 are as follows:

【渡航時期（Time of Travel）】
April 2026 or October 2026

【第一選考と審査方針（First Screening and Screening Policy）】
在外公館では、第１選考として書類審査、語学筆記試験及び面接試験を行います。
At the Japanese diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate), the Primary Screening consists of a document review, a written language examination, and an interview.
※第一次選考に合格した者が必ず国費外国人留学生として採用されるものではありません。
Passing the Primary Screening does not guarantee selection as a Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship student.

① 書類審査（Document review）
最終出身大学において、一定以上の成績であること。また、専門分野及び研究計画が詳細かつ具体的に記述されていること。
Applicants must have achieved a certain level of academic performance at their most recent university. In addition, their field of specialization and research plan must be described in sufficient detail and with clarity.

② 語学筆記試験（Written language examination）
日本の大学で研究を行うために必要な日本語又は英語の語学力を有していること。
Applicants must possess sufficient proficiency in either Japanese or English to conduct research at a Japanese university.

③ 面接試験（Interview）
日本留学に対する明確な目的意識を持ち、日本の大学について情報収集を行っている者であること。また、日本語又は英語について、日本の指導教員との意思疎通が可能な語学能力があること。ただし、日本語能力が必要な専攻分野を希望るす者については、相当程度の日本語能力を有する者であること。
Applicants must have a clear purpose for studying in Japan and must have conducted sufficient research on Japanese universities. In addition, they must possess adequate proficiency in either Japanese or English to communicate effectively with their prospective academic supervisor in Japan. However, applicants who wish to pursue a field of study that requires Japanese language proficiency must have an appropriate level of Japanese ability.

高知工科大学では、国費外国人留学生奨学金（MEXT Scholarship)で本学への入学を希望する学生について、以下のスケジュールで選考を行います。
一次選考に合格するまでの詳細は、国籍を有する国の在外公館でご確認ください。
At Kochi University of Technology, applicants who wish to enroll in our university under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship will be selected according to the following schedule. For details regarding the procedures up to the first screening, please contact the Japanese diplomatic mission (Embassy or Consulate) in the country of your nationality.
