Global Intelligent Communication Lab (GIC Lab)
The Global Intelligent Communication (GIC) Lab conducts cutting-edge research in next-generation communication systems, with a focus on a diverse range of topics including satellite communications, High-Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS), low-altitude networks such as UAVs and flying taxis, emerging 6G technologies, and the evolution of WiFi systems. Our research integrates AI-driven optimization, advanced wireless protocols, and scalable global network architectures to enable robust, intelligent, and adaptive communication infrastructures. We are committed to developing technologies that not only push the frontiers of innovation but also address broader societal challenges—such as enhancing connectivity in underserved regions, building disaster-resilient networks, and supporting communication systems that can evolve with rapidly changing global and local demands. Located in the scenic, nature-rich region of Kochi, Japan, GIC Lab serves as a vital bridge between global research ambitions and local innovation. We actively explore how state-of-the-art communication technologies can support regional revitalization, foster smart communities, and promote environmental sustainability—contributing to both academic advancement and real-world societal impact. |
