In order to create a human-support robot helpful to an aging, low birth-rate society, we are developing reliable safety technologies and an evolutionary method of intelligence.
Differing from industrial robots designed for handling products, human-support robots firstly require functions capable of ensuring safety, since they need to work with human beings. Then, functions capable of understanding human intentions and adapting to changing physical and psychological characteristics are required. Human-support robots are a new frontier.
Therefore, the goal of our research laboratory is to develop a mechanism of ensuring safety and a method of evolutionary intelligence that can understand human intentions.
